Funciones Científicas:

El Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (HSJD) es un centro de alta especialización materno-infantil, que forma parte de la red pública de hospitales de Catalunya (SISCAT). En el ámbito pediátrico desarrolla un amplio plan de acción en la atención integral de pacientes y familias con enfermedades minoritarias.
El HSJD cuenta con un entorno GMP compuesto por 4 Salas Blancas incluidas en la Plataforma de Terapias Avanzadas (PTA), con el objetivo de desarrollar y producir terapias celulares, terapias génicas y/o terapias tisulares para población pediátrica. A corto plazo, se plantea la producción de CAR-T.
En su conjunto, la PTA es una estructura de alto nivel tecnológico, que ocupa 1.242 m², y está ubicada en la planta baja del Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona (PCCB) del HSJD. Está compuesta por un área de desarrollo de terapias avanzadas (ATMPs en la terminología inglesa comúnmente aceptada "Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products") con varios laboratorios de investigación, y la referida unidad de producción de ATMPs, en cumplimento con las normas de correcta fabricación (NCF, en inglès Good Manufacturing Practices, GMP) que cuenta además de las 4 salas blancas, con un almacén clasificado y otras salas auxiliares también clasificadas, un área de criopreservación y un área administrativa.
La PTA del HSJD tiene un acuerdo-convenio de colaboración con el Hospital Clínic de Barcelona - Fundación IDIBAPS (HCB) para desarrollar productos conjuntamente.
La persona seleccionada deberá desarrollar las siguientes funciones en el área GMP de la PTA:
1. Ejecución de controles de calidad biológicos-bioquímicos y microbiológicos
o Realizar análisis de materia prima, producto intermedio y producto final.
o Aplicar técnicas como PCR, ELISA, endotoxinas, entre otras.
2. Control de calidad en procesos de terapias avanzadas
o Supervisar y verificar condiciones críticas durante la producción.
o Muestreo de productos en salas blancas (clasificación B/C).
3. Gestión de documentación técnica
o Cumplimentar registros de laboratorio, hojas de control y protocolos.
o Asegurar el cumplimiento de la trazabilidad según normativa GMP.
4. Participación en investigaciones de desviaciones y OOS
o Colaborar en el análisis de causas raíz.
o Proponer medidas correctivas y preventivas (CAPAs).
5. Cualificación y mantenimiento de equipos de Control de Calidad

SJD SOCIAL INNOVA is a cross-cutting program that promotes and contributes to the generation of transformative social innovation projects in SJD's social and healthcare centers. The program supports the centers from the identification of the idea or challenge to the design and construction of competitive projects, establishing the impact narrative. It also provides support during the implementation of awarded projects in tasks related to social innovation - such as stakeholder engagement, co-creation, monitoring and evaluation, and impact management - to promote social transformation.
The person we are looking for will be responsible for assisting project leaders working in the social area of Sant Joan de Déu Centers in identifying ideas, conceptualizing, and writing proposals for competitive funds (mainly European or International). This person will contribute to the research and innovation activities of these centers by designing projects that provide innovative and evidence-based solutions to the realities they address daily. Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (HSJD) is dedicated to comprehensive care for women, children and adolescents, and has become one of the most important specialised paediatric centres in Europe. As a university hospital, it contributes to the training of health professionals, together with the University of Barcelona. Through the Institute of Research Sant Joan de Déu, HSJD conducts research to find new and better treatments for paediatric diseases. HSJD’s goal is to not only promote and encourage the training of its professionals in order to improve the health of our patients and the community, but also to advance scientific and human knowledge.
Within the HSJD, the Paediatric Cancer Centre Barcelona (PCCB) is a new monographic centre for the benefit of children and adolescents with cancer and their families. The facility brings together the healthcare services aimed at patients with developmental cancer in one single place, as well as spaces dedicated to research. Research in the PCCB is done in close collaboration with clinicians at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in order to close the gap between basic and translational cancer research with the overarching goal of treating a large volume of patients more effectively, efficiently and adequately. THE POSITION
The Pediatric Haemato-Oncology Research Programme, located at the PCCB and established through a partnership between the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute and the Institute of Research Sant Joan de Déu is seeking a Research Project Manager to oversee cross-functional scientific activities and operational procedures.
Main Responsabilities
• Support the research coordinator in grant management, including assisting with grant proposals drafting, budget management, and reporting requirements.

El Grup d’Investigació de Salut Mental Infanto-Juvenil del IRJSD està interessat en incorporar una persona per donar suport en un projecte de recerca finançat per l’Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Codi PI24/00302: Estudio multicéntrico longitudinal PREDICT-CAPRIS: creación de un modelo de predicción del riesgo de transición a un trastorno psicótico en niños y adolescentes mediante una calculadora de riesgo. El projecte té com objectiu l’estudi de la població de risc de desenvolupar un trastorn psicòtic mitjançant la elaboració d’un model predictiu i calculadora de risc en població infanto-juvenil en risc.
Les funcions principals de la persona inclouran fer suport en:
• Coordinació y seguiment de participants de l’estudi.
• Avaluació neuropsicològica de participants de l’estudi.

Estem interessats a incorporar un/a Data Entry en el marc del projecte “UNICAS. Implementation of a Pediatric Network for Personalised Medicine in rare pediatric diseases. A Pilot Project”.
L'objectiu últim de la medicina pediàtrica de precisió és estratificar els nens afectats per malalties per millorar el diagnòstic i els tractaments mèdics.
Els investigadors translacionals estan aportant quantitats cada vegada més grans de dades clíniques heterogenies i informació científica per crear estratègies de classificació que permetin adequar la intervenció als mecanismes subjacents de la malaltia en subgrups de pacients.
La majoria de les malalties genètiques pediàtriques, com els trastorns del neurodesenvolupament, les malalties metabòliques hereditàries, els trastorns neuromusculars, les epilèpsies i altres afeccions monogèniques ultrarares, són causes importants de mort i discapacitat infantil a Espanya i a tot el món.
Els objectius principals d'aquest projecte són:
1- Establiment d'una Xarxa de Recerca Pediàtrica en Malalties Rares per a la Medicina de Precisió a Espanya;
2- Aplicació d'estàndards d'Història Clínica Electrònica mitjançant la introducció d'un "conjunt mínim de dades clíniques" en quatre grups de malalties per obtenir un conjunt d'estàndards comuns de dades clíniques que es pretenen incloure a les RER, CSUR i CIBER;
3- Implementació d'eines comunes entre unitats pediàtriques i desplegament de "Casos d'Ús" per a IMPaCT-Data i IMPaCT-Genomics.
4- Aplicació d'eines automatitzades per analitzar i compartir la informació genòmica de nens amb malalties rares i la interacció amb IMPaCT-Genomics.
El projecte desplegarà una plataforma federada de dades seguint les directrius, la documentació i els demostradors desenvolupats per IMPaCT-Data.
Aquest projecte pilot pretén donar el tret de sortida de la Xarxa, estructurar les seves bases mínimes aprofitant les dades fenotípiques i genòmiques existents en 300 pacients i realitzar estudis genòmics i anàlisis fenotípics estructurats com a estudi pilot en altres 200 pacients amb quatre grups de patologies.
Funcions principals
1. Introducció i validació de dades clíniques i genètiques en sistemes de gestió interns (HCIS) i bases de dades especialitzades.
2. Verificació i actualització de dades demogràfiques i clíniques dels pacients.
3. Participació en l’estandardització i codificació de dades clíniques i genètiques d’acord amb models i ontologies internacionals (OMOP, OMIM, SNOMED CT o similars).

The Patient Engagement in Research Area at the Sant Joan de Déu Foundation is looking for a professional to manage the communication tasks of the Share4Rare platform (www.share4rare.org) as well as other projects related to science communication.
Share4Rare is an online platform that brings together a patient community and various research projects focused on rare diseases. These projects are based on the donation of medical and quality-of-life information by adult patients and caregivers of children living with a rare disease. Share4Rare offers services to researchers interested in conducting collaborative research initiatives with patients and families at both national and international levels, enabling research into a group of diseases characterized by low prevalence.

BCNatal | Fetal Medicine Research Center is carrying out an ambitious project in the field of fetal surgery and therapy for the development of an artificial placenta, which involves animal experimentation. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the team as a pre-doctoral student (PhD) in a multidisciplinary applied research project. This research position is in collaboration with the Department of Fluid Mechanics of the UPC Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
The position is primarily funded through STEP FI postdoctoral research grants, and the selection of the candidate is contingent upon the resolution of the STEP FI funding. Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated pre-doctoral researcher to join our team in the study of flow dynamics in extracorporeal circuit systems for extreme premature babies within a Liquid Incubator system. This project aims to optimize extracorporeal circulation by combining experimental measurements in a devoted circuit and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulations combined with AI-driven analytics. The expected research outcomes are a real-time monitoring system, a physics-based numerical model and the AI tools suitable to develop a reliable digital twin.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate and calibrate existing sensors (flow, pressure, temperature) and test and integrate new sensor types.
- Create a monitoring system capable of registering continuous data streams of the circuit.
- Conduct flow dynamics studies of the circuit with CFD to obtain a physics-based model providing a good agreement with the experimental measurements.
- Perform a series of experiments and CFD simulations to understand patient adaptation to different conditions through time.
- Develop suitable signal processing and AI analytic tools to detect anomalies, predict behaviours and support decisions.
- Integrate all the previous results to develop a digital twin to optimize extracorporeal circuit design and clinical protocols.

The research group “Epidemiology of Mental Health Disorders and Ageing” led by Dr. Josep Maria Haro seeks a postdoctoral researcher to work in the Epidemiology of Youth Mental Health research line, together with Dr. Rodrigo Antunes Lima.
We offer a 12-month contract, with the possibility of renovation. The main attribution of this postdoctoral position is to support the conduction of two EU-funded projects: the e-Intervention Enhancing Mental Health in Adolescents (IMPROVA project; https://www.improva-project.eu/), and the ePlatform for Promoting Health in Schools project (ePro-Schools https://www.linkedin.com/company/epro-schools/?viewAsMember=true ).
IMPROVA will co-design, pilot, evaluate, and facilitate the upscaling of a modular eHealth intervention platform that aims to improve mental health and wellbeing, early detect mental health problems and prevent common mental problems in adolescents. IMPROVA will be implemented in school settings and will include components for adolescents, parents, teachers, and other school staff in complementary and synergistic modules based on materials designed and tested in >20 projects carried out by the consortium members. The platform will be co-created by the consortium in collaboration with stakeholder groups (adolescents, parents, teachers, other school staff, schools and policymakers). IMPROVA includes an international inter-disciplinary group of researchers and practitioners from medicine, education, psychology, sociology, public health, economics, physical activity, ethics, law, UX design, computer science, medical informatics, data science, ICT technologies, and policymakers. After pilot testing the platform, IMPROVA will be implemented via a cluster randomised controlled trial in secondary education schools randomly selected in France, Germany, Romania and Spain, including 8,000 adolescents. A 360º evaluation of IMPROVA will include Effectiveness, Implementation, Economic, and Social Return on Investment analysis. Using implementation science methodology, IMPROVA will co-design transferable evidence-based guidance for scaling up the platform with users and policymakers. IMPROVA aims to provide an evidence-based, innovative, large-scale, comprehensive intervention, and a scale-up plan to promote mental health and prevent mental disorders in adolescents; empower adolescents and families to make better decisions regarding their mental health; and provide schools and the community with tools to achieve a society with better mental health and lower stigma.
ePro-Schools will co-design, pilot and evaluate an evidence-based modular eHealth intervention platform to promote physical activity and healthy eating, and reduce time in sedentary behaviours.
A profound co-creation process, including marketing survey and focus groups with adolescents, teachers, school directors and policy makers together with the adaptation of previous interventions conducted by the consortium members will support the development of the platform. The ePro-Schools platform will contain modules for adolescents and their parents, teachers and school administration. Although the platform will be implemented through schools, it will include contents to be implemented outside the schools setting. By evaluating register-based and cohort data, we will identify schools that have adolescents from socially disadvantaged settings to conduct a randomised controlled trial in those schools to test the ePro-Schools platform. Using implementation science methodology, ePro-Schools will co-design transferable evidence-based practices and methodologies and guidance for scaling up the platform with policymakers and stakeholders as well as informing specialists, policymakers and the general public.
