As a leading Research Center in Digital Technologies in Europe, i2CAT participates in public programmes for Research and Innovation which have become during the last years highly dynamic and competitive.


Strategy and a strong value proposition together with knowledge about the programmes is a must to increase the chances of success and ensure the outcomes that i2CAT needs to fulfil its Research and Innovation Roadmaps and keep consistent collaboration activities at European, National and Regional levels.


For this purpose, the EC R&I Strategy and Policy team is seeking for a Research and Innovation Consultant which can support in the prospection and definition of the internal strategy of participation in National and Regional public funding programmes for Research and Innovation while one of the members of the team is in maternity leave. i2CAT willingness is to extend the contract of this person depending on his/her value becoming part of the EC R&I team.


The successful candidate will be responsible for positioning i2CAT in the Spanish and Catalan Research and Innovation ecosystem programs in order to facilitate the acquisition of funding and participation in research and innovation projects related to i2CATs know how.


Among its main tasks, the candidate will have to:


  • Identify funding opportunities in Spain/Madrid/Catalonia

  • Provide expertise and advice to i2CAT related to the different funding opportunities

  • Contact with relevant ministries and public agencies

  • Support to the preparation and submission of projects to different financing programs

  • Interact (and manage if needed) with research and innovation initiatives and/or groups related to strategic areas relevant for i2CAT

  • Use your/our contact network to establish research collaborations

What do we offer?

Where will you do it?


At i2CAT we already have an established telework policy for some time. You can work from home or from the office, whichever suits you best. We ask that you attend the office two days per week, one to stay connected with the team and the other one to establish relations.


If you decide to come to the office, we are located in Zona Universitària, next to the Campus Nord of the UPC, within a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. It is a very well connected area (metro, tram, bus) with bars and restaurants around.


Our offices are designed with an open-office concept where everything is light and transparency (we do not have opaque rooms). We have a variety of workspaces so that you don't have to be at the same table all day.

Requisitos mínimos

Minimum requirements:


  • Fluent in Spanish, Catalan and English

  • 3 years experience in public sector and/or RTO or as a funding consultant at national level

  • Consultancy background in relevant public sector organizations (experience in a research center or university managing national R&I projects with private and public stakeholders)

  • Extensive knowledge of the Spanish and Catalan R&I environment

  • Ability to represent and promote the organization in national events

  • Ability to create, maintain and develop partnerships with universities, research institutions, companies and public administrations

  • Willingness to travel

Nice to have:


  • PhD in ICT topic

  • Familiarity with technological terms from the ICT sector (e.g. Internet of Things, Big Data, 5G, AI, SDN/NFV, VR/AR, etc.)

  • Contacts in national public agencies (e.g. CDTI)

  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills

  • Proven experience in proposals success
