The I2CAT Foundation is looking for a post-doc researcher to apply for a MSCA Fellowhip in order to advance the research field in immersive technologies. More information about MSCA Call here.
Since the last decade, the video research community and industry are strongly focusing on immersive technologies. Relevant examples include Virtual/Augmented/eXtended Reality (VR/AR/XR) scenarios, volumetric/holographic conferencing, and interactive shared experiences. These technologies typically involve advanced capturing systems and representation formats, such as Free Viewpoint and Multiview Video, Light-field, and Volumetric Video, which are all becoming increasingly relevant. In the context of distributed and interactive eXtended Reality (XR), Signal Processing techniques become essential to improve the performance and quality along many different processes and requirements of the end-to-end systems, including: Computer Vision, Content Fusion, Content Encoding, and Content Rendering.
The research will be focused on the design, development and evaluation of immersive media processing techniques for interactive VR/AR/XR scenario, potentially supporting a variety of media formats : Free Viewpoint and Multiview Video, Light-field, and Volumetric Video, like Meshes and Point Clouds. The ideal candidate masters one, or more, of the following research fields:
It is expected that the work to be carried out will result in high-quality prototypes, scientific publications and even potentially standard-compliant contributions. The candidate will be integrated with an experienced cross-disciplinary team, and will closely interact with relevant industry and academic partners under the umbrella of national and european projects.
Candidates should prove an experienced track record of publications, and ideally participation in research and industry projects.
