Senior Tunnel Design Engineer

1. Design of tunnels with conventional and mechanized methods. Competence in the choice, development and application of construction methods, preparation of construction plans and details, ground treatments, auscultation design and monitoring plan, preparation of work plans, measurements, budget and specifications or technical specifications.

2. Geotechnical characterization for the design of tunnels, wells and underground structures.

3. Front stability analysis, subsidence calculation and building damage analysis.

4. Coordination of structural design of shotcrete and voussoir system.

5. Design leadership of tunnelling and geotechnical works, and coordination of project teams to deliver the final design.

1. Degree in Civil Engineering, Geological/Geotechnical Engineering, Tunnelling or similar.

2. Minimum experience of 5 years in the complete design of tunnels or underground works in soft soils and/or rock masses.

3. Minimum experience of 3 years in complete design of tunnels with TBM.

4. Advanced knowledge of finite element modeling for underground structures and tunnels. Preferably in Plaxis 3D or similar.

5. Preference for experience in structural calculation software for the design of underground support systems (MIDAS or SAP2000 or similar)

6. Competence in the analysis of load conditions in soil and rock, in environments with groundwater effects and design of temporary support and permanent lining of the tunnel.

7. Self-motivated, capable of teamwork, proactive and willing to continuously learn and take responsibility for delivering tasks on time, obtaining a high quality result. Development towards the leadership of a work team with common goals.

8. Experience of working in large multidisciplinary projects.

9. Experience of delivering tunnelling design in the UK. Advance of English
