Software architect

i2CAT Foundation is seeking for a Software Architect to join the Software Engineering Group.

Main responsibilities of the position will be:

• Leading software architecture in multiple projects, from the design to the enforcement during the execution


• Participate in functional requirements gathering** and refinement after the product owner


• Participating and leading software tasks effort estimation with team members, with accuracy and risk detection as primary goals


• Enforcing best practices in software development among the team members and projects


• Improve software development processes within SEG as a long term effort

Where will you do it?

At i2CAT we already have an established telework policy for some time. You can work from home or from the office, whichever suits you best. We ask that you attend the office two days per week, one to stay connected with the team and the other one to establish relations.

If you decide to come to the office, we are located in Zona Universitària, next to the Campus Nord of the UPC, within a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. It is a very well connected area (metro, tram, bus) with bars and restaurants around.

Our offices are designed with an open-office concept where everything is light and transparency (we do not have opaque rooms). We have a variety of workspaces so that you don't have to be at the same table all day.

Minimum requeriments:

• Strong experience in software architecture, integrations using REST APIs among other responsibilities


• Demonstrated experience managing software projects, including task estimation, team leadership, and success results orientation


• Practical experience performing functional requirements gathering


• Strong knowledge in all phases of software development lifecycle


• Fluent in programming languages (ideally Java or Python), minimum 5 years


• Solid understanding of Docker tooling (including Docker Compose)


• Experience designing/coding microservices (container-based)

• Experience with VCS, git and gitflow

• Team working


• Spoken and written English

Desired requeriments:

• Experience with Agile Methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)


• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD or similar)
