Descripción del empleo

The i2CAT Foundation is opening a postdoctoral position to apply for a MSCA Fellowhip in order to advance the research field in immersive technologies. More information about MSCA Call here.

Multimedia systems are becoming increasingly more interactive and immersive. In this context, the design of new protocols, formats and techniques can be currently augmented with the adoption of latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques and algorithms, like Deep Learning, to maximize the system performance, the media quality as well as the content comprehension. In the context of distributed and interactive eXtended Reality (XR), AI and Deep Learning can provide very significant advantages for many technological processes along the end-to-end chain and system behavior, including: Computer Vision, Content Encoding, Media Distribution, and Media Interaction.

The research will be focused on the design, development and evaluation of novel AI and Deep Learning techniques in the scope of distributed and interactive XR systems, with a potential focus on real-time multi-party holo-communications and Social XR systems. The ideal candidate masters one, or more, of the following research fields:

  • End-to-End Multimedia Systems

  • Computer Vision

  • Multi-sensor volumetric media capturing

  • Volumetric media compression

  • Deep Learning

It is expected that the work to be carried out will result in high-quality prototypes, scientific publications and even potentially standard-compliant contributions. The candidate will be integrated with an experienced cross-disciplinary team, and will closely interact with relevant industry and academic partners under the umbrella of national and european projects.

Candidates should prove an experienced track record of publications, and ideally participation in research and industry projects.
