i2cat Foundation is looking for a Junior Systems Engineer in the aerospace industry to join the Space Communications Research area.


We are leading the implementation of the Catalan NewSpace Strategy acting as a technical office for the Generalitat. A member that supports the Innovation director of the Space Communications area to conduct the strategy and lead certain related tasks is required.


Additionally, the candidate will also be involved in the different innovation activities with both the private and public sector to identify challenges and opportunities where NewSpace technology could be used. This responsibility will complement the research conducted in the Space Communications group. This group is centered on contributing with new technology related to Internet of Things (IoT) over satellite systems, Satellite networks challenges, and Inter-Satellite Link interactions.


The tasks associated to this job are the following ones:


  1. Support the implementation and management of the Catalan NewSpace Strategy

  2. Identify challenges and opportunities in both the private and public sectors to apply NewSpace technologies related to the research conducted in the group.

  3. Support the business development department in the generation of analysis and proposals.

  4. Oversee the implementation of certain innovation projects and coordinate the different stakeholders as a systems engineer.

Requisitos mínimos

The following skills are needed:


  • Engineering degree in Aerospace, Aeronautics, Telecommunications or related

  • Knowledge of systems engineering in the aerospace industry

  • Good soft skills to manage customers and stakeholders: listening, assertiveness, etc.

  • Analytical skills to solve problems and come up with innovative solutions and the capacity to justify and support them.

The following skills are desired:


  • Acknowledgement on satellite systems and architectures.

  • Acknowledgement on other disruptive technologies: blockchain, internet of things, cybersecurity, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, etc.

  • Acknowledgement on systems engineering tools: STK, model building, etc.

  • Experience in mission concepts design.

  • Software development experience is also welcome.

  • Open mind to learn and discover new concepts and technologies
