Descripción del empleo

Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) is seeking a highly qualified jurist that is strongly motivated to contribute as a team-player in an intellectually fascinating and vocational professional opportunity. From within VHIO’s Business Development Department the successful candidate will be contributing to the active management of international research and development projects at the forefront of oncological science.

VHIO is a private foundation, and therefore not subject to the rules and regulations that apply to an entity pertaining to the public sector. Consequently, most issues that VHIO’s new in-house legal advisor will be resolving fall within the scope of Business Law (especially contracts and IP). However, several of VHIO’s stakeholders are government entities (of Catalonia, Spain, the EU, and other jurisdictions), and biomedical research and development are strictly regulated, so a high level of knowledge of, and practical experience in the field of Administrative Law is also an essential requirement of the position being offered.

Key roles/responsibilities:

  • Review and monitor data protection policies of the institution and coordinate with VHIO’s DPO to implement policies and agreement templates.

  • Participate in the process of drafting, negotiating, and reviewing NDAs, MTAs, license and IP contracts, Collaboration Agreements, Service Agreements and associated commercial contracts.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance in all the institution’s acts, especially in IP and biomedical research projects.

  • Provide continuing advice to the different departments of VHIO that support its researchers (Finance, Project Management, HR, Quality Control) with regards to legal developments that affect their respective fields of activity.

Requisitos mínimos

Technical requirements:

  • Law Degree and post graduate studies in any of the following areas: Administrative Law, Compliance, Intellectual Property, Data Protection, International Business Law.

  • 2 years of experience as in-house legal advisor at, or external counsel for a biomedical research organization, in the private or public sector, but mainly focused on international research and development projects.

  • Specific knowledge in pharmaceutical and healthcare law and previous experience in the field of biomedical research and innovation.

  • Excellent speaking and writing skills with legal terminology, both in English and Spanish, are a must.

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to work independently as well as integrated in teams with non-jurists.

  • Work philosophy essentially based on a very practical, hands-on, solution-oriented approach to all issues.

  • Track-record as a multitasker, hard-working, very resilient, client-focused jurist.
